by Anaïs Mitchell
Synopsis: This intriguing and beautiful folk opera delivers a deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience. Following two intertwining love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of immortal King Hades and lady Persephone – Hadestown invites audiences on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Mitchell’s beguiling sung-through musical pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown, modified for performance by teen actors for family audiences. Licensing Page

Rehearsals and Production Week
Link to calendar – Note that this is an evolving document, and, while all of the dates and times are correct, the content of the days will be updated as we get closer to the rehearsals.
There will be a read-through on Monday, September 8th in the choir room followed by a parent meeting at 6pm and booster meeting at 6:30.
Rehearsals will begin September 8th, generally Monday-Thursdays 3:30-6:00pm. We will switch to evenings, 6-10pm on Monday, 10/27
Tech Week will be November 3-7 and 12, times TBD.
The five performances will be November 8-9, 13-15, 2025. This is to dodge the potential home football playoff game, and includes a Sunday show on 11/9…but all students have two days off for Veterans’ Day the second week!
Absences
We understand that students will occasionally have conflicts. But we have a limited amount of time to rehearse, and we need every minute. No more than 2 rehearsal absences Sep 8 – Oct 30. No absences during Tech Week & Performances. Please do not schedule appointments or other activities during rehearsals. If an absence is unavoidable, please email details.
If you are absent due to illness, we will communicate with you on a case-by-case basis to determine the best plan for moving forward and trying to keep the student in the cast.
If you miss school (except for an excused, communicated-in-advance doctor’s appointment), you cannot attend rehearsal. Unexcused absences will lead to dismissal from the show.
Tuesday-Thursday, August 19-21 in the Dance room on C1 across from the gym, from 1-2:30 and 2:30-4. We are planning on two groups of 20. The camps are optional, free, and are not required to be in the show!
