Hadestown Playbill

Link to the program

Synopsis: Hadestown retells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, but with a jazzy, depression-era twist. The world is under the effects of climate change: scorching summers, freezing winters, and no spring or fall anymore – crops are dying and people are suffering. All of this is due to the fractured marriage of Hades, god of the underworld, and Persephone, goddess of nature.

Orpheus is a dreamer and musician who believes his song can change the fate of the world. Eurydice is a realist, worn down by poverty and hardship. In a desperate moment, she descends into Hadestown—a dystopian underworld run by the tyrannical Hades—Orpheus sets out to rescue her, but the myth’s infamous catch remains: he must lead her out without looking back.

Performances at Sherwood High School auditorium, November, 8, 13-15 at 7pm and November 9 at 5pm. Tickets online and at the door.
